Andre Agassi

As a kid I often watched tennis matches on telly together with my dad. Always looking forward to the final of a tournament where there was a big chance that Agassi would meet Sampras. I had a slight preference for Agassi but these matches were just unforgettable. The passion, hunger for win, drama made this final between these two men attractive to watch. Nowadays Nadal and Federer have taken over the roles of Sampras and Agassi and the old men are enjoying their ‘old days’. This week Agassi has released his autobiography together with some shocking reveals; he admits using dope and using a wig to cover his baldness. Where the man enjoyed a lot of attention in the past, he now needs to uncover a lot of secrets to stay in the picture and to praise his book. The BBC puts him in the spotlights one more time and they honour him with a special: Andre Agassi’s career in pictures.

livestrong 2, smallThe tour de France is rolling for almost two weeks. It is considered as the most important, demanding and prestigious bicycle race in the world. Men sitting for hours on their bicycles moving forward against mountains, one steeper than the other. It is not my most favorite sport to watch. But it is just impressive what these men do because it is a sport that demands a lot from a human body. The mental part is also an important factor in this sport beside the physical part. During and around the tour a lot of things happen that influence the mind of the rider. A flat tire, a wrong call, missing a lunch package, fans standing to close etc. The rider keeps his mind clear because he has just one goal: reaching the finish line. One by one they are all heroes. Whether they make it until the last mile, or not.
